STYLE A great Gemischter Schmatz (Austrian word for a kiss) is an harmony from at least 3 varieties, grown in the same vinyard, harvested and vinificated all togther. Pinot blanc for creamy body with fine apples and nuts, Welschriesling for vibrancy and refreshing lime, and the rare Neuburger for a fine bouquet make this Gemischter Satz the most refreshing-creamy one!
Serve to Viennese or Frensh food.
VINIFICATION Harvested manually in small boxes make sure we just put absolutely healthy berries into the pneumatic press. Maceration of 5 hours lets develop creamy fruit, before fermentation at 18,5° C in steel tanks.
TRAINING SYSTEM The medium high trellis training systemand the high canopy provide the berries with optimal photosynthesis and the best air circulation for real good berries. The cane pruning system leaves just one eye to shoot in spring, which is additionally reduced by green harvest.
TERROIRIn the hot vineyard Schilling Pinot blanc, Neuburger and Welschriesling become very aromatic. The south facing hill has tongues of brown earth, loam and loess. These are ideal conditions for fine fruit, vibrant herbs and elegant acidity. All grapes growing here, have body at lively easiness, because the adjecent forest Plot makes the nights cool, providing the berries with vibrant elegance.
WEATHER 2016Bad beginning, happy end. Late frosts caused damage, but turned out to be a natural quality selection. This was an enormous advantage in this wet and warm summer, because we had healthy grapes. The heat came at harvest and the ripeness grew, as wet cold weather bursted in, so you can now look forward to Weinwurms best ripeness-acidity balance.
