STYLE Deep ruby red with an opaque core, enormous fruit with plenty of ripe wild berries and black cherries, on the palate roastet juniper and friable tannins.

Venison stew with green beans in bacon and cabbage or a spicy steak with fried potatoes are more than recommended for this Zweigelt!

VINIFICATION The Zweigelt ripens until the end of October to fully develop its body, before we harvest manually in small boxes to find the best combination of repeness and quality. Afterwards macerated and fermented for 14 days at 30° C in barriques to fully develop its extract density before it matures in small wood for 12 month.

TRAINING SYSTEM The medium high trellis training system and the high canopy provide the berries with optimal photosynthesis and the best air circulation for real good grapes. The cane pruning system leaves just one eye to shoot in spring. Additionally to the green harvest this brings a maximum of quality into our berries.

TERROIR In the hot vineyard Schilling the Zweigelt earns all its finesse. The soft hill facing south has tongues of brown earth, loam and loess. This offers ideal conditions for fine fruit, vibrant herbs and elegant acidity. Grapes growing here, have a lively body, because the adjacent forest Plot makes the nights cool, providing the berries with vibrant elegance.

WEATHER 2015 To keep it short and simple, this vintage was fabulously best. Warm, sometimes a little too warm, dry, sometimes a little too dry, and temperatures like summer during the harvest in autumn, served best quality and beautiful quantity to us.
