150 out of 5000. No, that´s not again one of the hardly feasible lotteries. In fact, it stands for the Lower Austrian Wine Prize. And furthermore, it has nothing to do with luck, in contrast to the lottery. A good deal more with terroir and skills, with the knowhow how to produce excellent wines. With experience and the foresight to manage the foreseeable drought stress in time; definitely a challenge in 2017. Well, and with a bit of luck two wines of one winery reach the finals of the Lower Austrian Wine. That is to say, the luck to own a winery directly in Dobermannsdorf where deep loess meets fertile black earth and warm Pannonian climate cool, continental air streams, a combination which creates perfect conditions for top wines.
This year, the Lower Austrian Wine Prize selected 150 finalists out of more than 5.000 wines handed in by 908 wineries. Weinwurms Spitzbub Welschriesling Ried Schilling 2017 and Meinviertel Weinviertel DAC Grüner Veltliner 2017 are two of those 150 top wines of Lower
Austria evaluated in the course of various really blind tastings. Furthermore, our Welschriesling came out as the forth best of its variety and our Meinviertel among the 25 best Gruner Veltliners of the category „light“. You have to try yourself? Come on, we are happy to welcome you at the winery.
