150 out of 5000. No, that's not one of those barely possible lottery games. It is rather the Niederösterreichische Weinprämierung. And this has nothing to do with luck either, unlike the lottery. Much more with terroir and skill, with the knowledge of how to make excellent wine out of it. With experience and the foresight to deal with the foreseeable drought stress on the vine in time, which was quite a challenge in 2017. And yes, it has to do with a bit of luck though, that two wines of our winery are finalist of the NÖ Weinprämierung. It is the luck to have a vineyard right in Dobermannsdorf, where deep loess meets rich black earth and warm Pannonian climate meets cool continental air and thus create the best conditions for the best wines.

So 150 finalists are the result of this year's NÖ Weinprämierung, to which over 5,000 wines from 908 estates were submitted for the first time. Weinwurms Spitzbub Welschriesling Ried Schilling 2017 and Meinviertel Weinviertel DAC Grüner Veltliner 2017 are two of the 150 best wines in Lower Austria, ascertained in several blind tastings. Our Welschriesling is also the fourth best of its variety and our Meinviertel is among the best 25 Grüner Veltliners in the 'light' category. You don’t believe this until you have tasted it yourself? Go ahead, we look forward to your visit at the winery Weinwurm.
