WEINWURMs Charmanter CHARDONNAY Single Vineyard Schilling 2017 was not only awarded the sought after AWC gold medal but came also out as finalist.

With 91,5 points our wine was selected the 7th best Chardonnay on a national level and the 15th best internationally – and that competing with a total of 12.400 wines handed-in by 1700 producers from as many as 39 countries.

For those who want to know for sure …
The AWC Vienna 2018 asserts its rank as the world´s largest officially recognized wine rating with an imposing number of participants:
 
12.402 WINES handed-in by 1716 PRODUCERS from 39 COUNTRIES
 
were tasted in the course of a blind tasting by a comission of 400 approved tasters. The best-rated wines of each category had to undergo a second anonymous parallel tasting in order to determine the variety winner.

The CWSA China Wine & Spirits Awards is the largest wine competition in China & Hong Kong. Wines from over 50 countries around the worl will be sent this blind tasting. We received one gold an two silver medals.

What wine expert Jancis Robinson says about our wines

In December 2017 we sent a selection of our wines to Jancis Robinson to Manchester (GB).
Here is the wine rating:

Weissburgunder Reserve 2015
Looks more golden, smells rounder and deeper. Brioche and buttery and lychee syrup. Rich and plump, moving with sensuous laziness around the mouth – the perfect wine for a roasted chicken and caramelised parsnips. (TC) 16.5

Like their Grüner, lightly spritzy. Pears and cream and lots of lemon zest, with a bit of white citrus pith grated in for good measure. There’s a weight and a hint of richness, a hint of shimmer. Very neat, lovely spread and presence on the mid palate, and pretty good length. (TC) 16.5

Grapey and floral, elderflower on the nose and palate with a green-grassy, green-gooseberry-like acidity in the middle. Dry. Finishes softly. (TC) 16.3

Very light, fine spritz in the glass and on the palate. Smells, and tastes, like a bowl of fresh chopped cucumber and dill in Greek yogurt. With a tiny bit of pear sweetness, and pear graininess. Rounded and almost cushioned in the middle, but more stony and defined toward the end. (TC) 16.3

Smells of apricot jam and melted butter. You could spread this on a hot scone with a dollop of cream. Lusciously sweet, apricots dripping in syrup, but with a decent wash of acidity to back it up. (TC) 16.3

Zweigelt Reserve 2015
Lightly scented. Black cherries across the palate with a very upright, foot-tapping acidity. Very smart tannins tapering to the finish, slim-fit and elegant. Impeccably smooth with a purity to the dark fruit. Little bit of vanilla oak as the wine warms up to room temperature. Deliciously fresh and one of the most food-friendly wines I’ve had this year.
